If you are using iPhone then go to Settings.  Click on Payment.  Under Payment method click on your bank account.  Check your account balance by tapping on View account balance.  Enter your UPI PIN and check your balance.

If you can't find your bank in the list, your bank may not be supporting you.  The phone number should be linked to your WhatsApp account for payment facility.  This number is used to identify your bank account details.  Make sure you are using the latest version of WhatsApp to use Payments.
