In the notification shared by the Department of Telecom, it has been said that the IMEI number of every device to be manufactured in India will have to be registered on the portal Indian Counterfeited Device Restriction prepared by the Telecom Department of India. Along with this, the first information of the sale will also have to be shared.

This notification has been issued under the Prevention of Tampering of Mobile Device Equipment Identification Number (Amendment) Rules, 2022. At present, only the facility to block stolen or lost mobile is available on the portal.
