Gurdeep Singh On Wednesday, August 3, he won the bronze medal in the category of weight above 109 kg. Gurdeep lifted a total of 390 kg and put the 17th medal in India’s bag.
On August 3, after Lovepreet Singh’s bronze medal, Gurdeep also put another medal in the Indian bag late at night. The 26-year-old Indian weightlifter entered the clean and jerk round with a best effort of 167 in the snatch. After this, he performed his career best in clean and jerk and lifted the weight of 223 kg. In this way, with a total of 390, he reached the bronze medal position.

India’s best performance
This was India’s 10th medal in weightlifting. It has 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze. In this way, India remained at number one with the most medals in weightlifting at the Birmingham Games. With this performance, India also crossed the Gold Coast’s 9 medals in 2018. However, 4 years ago India won 5 gold.
Returning after a bad start
Gurdeep did not have a good start in this last weightlifting event in Birmingham. He lifted 167 kg in the second attempt but could not lift 173 kg in the third attempt. In clean and jerk, he started with 207 kg but failed in his second attempt of 215 kg. However, despite this, he increased the weight to 223 kg in the third attempt and successfully lifted it to ensure the bronze medal.
