In this matter, the High Court had taken suo motu cognizance in the year 2018 and started criminal contempt proceedings. On Tuesday, in the court of Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Talwant’s division bench, Vivek Agnihotri filed an application and sought permission to appear in the matter which is a suo motu proceeding.
Next hearing will be on March 23
An application has been filed on behalf of Vivek when earlier the court had given a decision to initiate ex-parte proceedings against Vivek Agnihotri, Swarajya News Portal and Anand Ranganathan. The next hearing in this matter will now be held on March 23, 2023. The court has directed Vivek Agnihotri to be personally present in the court on the next hearing.
What happened during the hearing?
During the hearing today, Amicus Curie told the court that there is a difference between the affidavit filed by Vivek Agnihotri and Twitter’s reply. Amicus Curie informed the court that Vived Agnihotri has claimed that he has deleted his tweets Were, but Twitter has said in its reply that it has removed the tweets from the microblogging site. Agnihotri’s lawyer told the court that he would inquire as to when the tweet was blocked.
