Virat Kohli did well in first-class cricket for his state team Delhi before starting his career for Team India.
The new decade of cricket has not been good for Virat Kohli. One of the greatest batsmen of the current generation to score a mountain of runs in the last decade Virat Kohli Struggling for runs this time. He does not appear in his old complexion. Obviously he would be worried about it, but maybe not as much as he used to be about 15-16 years ago. So upset that I started crying a lot. In trying to establish his footing as a young cricketer, Virat Kohli must have been like all those players for whom even small failures were emotional. One such anecdote of his has recently been told by Pradeep Sangwan, a veteran fast bowler from Delhi and Kohli’s early days partner.
Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, India won the Under-19 World Cup in 2008 and Kohli’s main bowler was left-arm Delhi pacer Sangwan. Both had a good time in Under-19 and also played a lot of cricket together for Delhi. Obviously both know each other very well. In such a situation, if you want to ask Sangwan something about the early days of Kohli’s career, then obviously some funny stories will come out. He told about one such anecdote recently.
Coach and colleagues made a plan
Sangwan, who recently returned to the IPL for Gujarat Titans, which won the IPL 2022 title, revealed the emotional part of Kohli’s personality in an interview. Referring to an anecdote from the early days, Sangwan said, when Virat Kohli does not score runs in some matches, he gets very upset. During our U-17 days, he was not getting runs in a couple of matches, then one of our coach Ajit Singh said that ‘Chiku’ (Virat’s name) pulls the leg. He told us that we will not keep Virat’s name in the team for tomorrow’s match and you all should say the same.
Virat Kohli started crying bitterly
Sangwan further told how this made Kohli very upset. He further said, when the coach took the names of 12-13 players, Virat’s name was not there. He was very angry and went to the room and started crying. He also called his coach Rajkumar Sharma and said that I have played 200-250 innings in the season and am withdrawing after just 2 matches. Then when Virat was not sleeping, I said Soja. Virat said that I was not playing yesterday, so why sleep early. Then I told him separately that you are playing tomorrow and it was just a joke.
