The Ministry of Railways has accelerated the work of redevelopment of major stations across the country. Bhartiya Railway 40 railway stations are being redeveloped to provide modern facilities and tenders are in process for redevelopment of 14 railway stations. The development work will connect the railway station with various modes of transport like metro, bus etc. and will also connect both the sides of the city with the station. Along with this, green building technology and other facilities for ‘Divyangjan’ will be adopted in the construction of station infrastructure. The stations will be developed on the concept of intelligent building equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for passengers. Station Redevelopment The railways will develop facilities like ‘City Center’ at the station for the passengers as well as the general public.
Bidding will be held for the redevelopment of these stations
Railways will bid for redevelopment at 16 stations, including the Anand Vihar terminal, under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. Other stations to be redeveloped include Tambaram, Vijayawada, Dadar, Kalyan, Thane, Andheri, Coimbatore Junction, Pune, Bangalore City, Vadodara, Bhopal, Chennai Central, Delhi Hazrat Nizamuddin and Avadi. Railways plans to bid for these stations within the current year itself. Rani Kamalapati Station of West Central Railway, Gandhinagar Rajdhani Station of Western Railway and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Station of South Western Railway have been developed and made operational. Explain that no time limit has been fixed for the construction of the stations, as the nature of the station development program is complex. It involves multiple stakeholders and various statutory approvals.

There will be entry from both sides of the stations, that is, the station will connect both the parts of the city. Apart from food court, waiting lounge, space for children to play, space will be fixed to promote local product of the city. A city center-like space will be created for the citizens in these stations located in the middle of the city. Traffic arrangements have been made in the master plan. All modes of transport will be connected to the station. Auto, taxi and bus stand will be interconnected. The entire building will be built with green building technology. Special care will be taken for the facilities of the handicapped.

Ayodhya, Bijwasan, Safdarjung, Gomtinagar, Tirupati, Gaya, Udhna, Somnath, Ernakulam, Puri, New Jalpaiguri, Muzaffarpur, Lucknow (Charbagh), Dakania Talav, Kota, Jammu Tawi, Jalandhar Cantt, Nellore, Sabarmati, Faridabad, Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar , Kollam, Udaipur City, Jaisalmer, Ranchi, Visakhapatnam, Puducherry, Katpadi, Rameshwaram, Madurai, Surat, Jodhpur, Chennai Egmore, New Bhuj etc.
