Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that 16 rounds of bidding have been completed in three days. The auction will continue on Friday as well.

Bids worth Rs 1,49,623 crore received till the end of the third day auction

The Union Minister said that till the end of the third day of the auction, total bids worth Rs 1,49,623 crore have been received. This is marginally higher than the Rs 1,49,454 crore received after the ninth round of bidding on Wednesday, the second day of the auction. Vaishnav said companies have shown interest in various bands and the industry is committed to take telecom services to the villages. A total of 72 GHz radio waves worth at least Rs 4.3 lakh crore have been placed under the bidding.

Auction is going on for many bands including 600 and 700 MHz

The auction is being conducted for spectrum in various low (600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1,800 MHz, 2,100 MHz, 2,300 MHz), medium (3,300 MHz) and high (26 GHz) frequency bands. On Tuesday, the first day of bidding, bids worth Rs 1.45 lakh crore were placed in four rounds of auction. Additional demand for radio waves came in five rounds of auction on Wednesday.

A record revenue of Rs 1.09 lakh crore was received from the auction held in the year 2015

The government has said that the response to the auction is better than expected and has crossed the record level of 2015. In 2015, a record revenue of Rs 1.09 lakh crore was received from spectrum auction. Under the process, till the auction is over, it will not be known which company got how much spectrum.

With the advent of 5G services, the internet speed will be about 10 times higher than that of 4G. In this, the speed of the internet will be such that a movie can be downloaded on mobile in just a few seconds. Along with this, it will revolutionize various areas including e-health, metaverse, state-of-the-art mobile cloud gaming.
