Team Scores 300 Runs in 20 Overs: 31 Sixes and 19 Fours Break Records!

T20 cricket has always been a platform for explosive performances, where crossing the 200-run mark is considered a commendable feat. Recently, various teams have even surpassed the 250-run barrier in high-stakes matches, including the IPL. Yet, the 2024 Delhi Premier League has raised the bar even higher, with one team achieving the extraordinary milestone of scoring over 300 runs in just 20 overs. This remarkable feat was accomplished by the South Delhi Superstars under the leadership of Ayush Badoni.

South Delhi Superstars Set a New Record

During a thrilling match against North Delhi, the South Delhi Superstars shattered all previous records by posting a staggering total of 308 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. This score stands as the highest in the history of the league thus far. What’s even more striking is that the Superstars hit an impressive 31 sixes while only managing to score 19 fours. Notably, two players from the team achieved centuries during this historic innings.

Explosive Innings by Priyansh and Badoni

Opening batsman Priyansh Arya played a sensational innings, scoring 120 runs off just 50 balls. His explosive knock featured 10 fours and 10 sixes, resulting in a remarkable strike rate of 240. This innings marked his second century in the league. Meanwhile, team captain Ayush Badoni stole the spotlight with an astonishing 165 runs from 55 balls, including a jaw-dropping 19 sixes and 8 fours, achieving a phenomenal strike rate of 300. The two created a colossal partnership of 286 runs for the second wicket, which is now the highest partnership recorded in the league’s history.

Northern Delhi Bowlers Struggle

Unfortunately for North Delhi, their bowlers had a tough day on the field. With the exception of Pranshu Vijayran, every bowler conceded runs at an economy rate of over 10. Manan Bhardwaj proved to be the most expensive bowler, allowing 60 runs in just 2 overs. Vaibhav Kandpal also struggled, giving away 41 runs in his 2 overs, while Sujay Sharma’s 4 overs cost 66 runs. Siddharth Solanki was the lone bright spot for the bowling side, claiming 3 wickets but still succumbing to 52 runs.
