England's Jack Hobbs is at number two in the list of batsmen who have scored the most runs in Ashes history.  He has scored 3636 runs in 71 innings of 41 Tests.  At the same time, there are two former Australia captains Allan Border and Steve Waugh at the next two numbers i.e. the third and fourth positions.  Border has scored 3222 runs in the Ashes while Steve Waugh has scored 3173 runs.  David Gower of England is at 5th position just above Steve Smith with 3037 runs.
