At the same time, if the government gives a subsidy of 40 percent on this, then the cost is 75 thousand rupees (in addition to GST). On the other hand, for a system of 2 kW, the cost without subsidy is Rs 86 thousand (in addition to GST) and with subsidy, the cost is Rs 52 thousand (in addition to GST). That is, the cost of a 2 to 3 kW solar plant with subsidy remains close to the price of a common bike. However, according to the ministry, this plant saves you at least 22 thousand rupees annually (for 2 kW).

How to apply for subsidy

  • Either you have to register yourself on https://solarrooftop.gov.in/ to get 40 percent subsidy for the system.
  • Or you have to download Sandes app. After this, you have to choose your state, electricity distribution company. Then the requested information has to be filled.
  • After that login with consumer number and mobile number.
  • After login, click on Apply for Rooftop Solar. After this the distribution company will give its report on your application. After which further action will be taken for installation.
  • After the installation of the plant, you will have to get a certificate from the discom. Subsidy will be credited to your account as soon as you submit the certificate
