Skoda will offer 6 new cars in 2022, know what is the company’s planning
Skoda India today announced its plans for 2022, saying it expects sales to triple to cross the 70,000-unit mark by 2021. The company is also planning to launch its six new models in 2022. As far as Skoda plans to launch in India in 2022, the company has confirmed that its first launch for India this year will be the facelifted Skoda Kodiaq.
The new Kodiaq will be launched by mid-January followed by the Skoda Slavia in early March. The company will also launch more variants of the Skoda Kushak, which we believe will incorporate the rumored top-spec Monte-Carlo variant of the Kushak. The Octavia and Superb will also get more variants in the coming years.
Upcoming Skoda Car 2022
The company is planning to bring the Octavia RS in 2023, which makes us think that the other planned models could be the facelifted Skoda Karoq as well as the Skoda Anac IV electric SUV. Brand head Zack Hollis also confirmed that Skoda is working on more models on the local MQB-A0-IN platform, one of which is rumored to be a sub-for-metre SUV, but these models will be available for 2022. Will come later.
Skoda India Sales Plan 2022
Skoda India is betting big on Skoda Kushak and Skoda Slavia for 2022. Both these cars intend to sell 70,000 units of the Czech brand in India this year, with monthly sales estimated at 2,500 to 3,000 units for both the models. This will be complemented by 5,000 units as expected sales of Skoda Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq this year. Meeting these targets will make India one of the top 10 markets for Skoda Auto globally.
The company had its most successful year in 2021, registering a 130 percent increase in sales in 2020 to 23,858 units. Importantly for Skoda India, rural sales grew by 200 per cent and corporate sales by 127 per cent. Kushak had a 60 per cent share of this and now has 11.5 per cent of the market share. Both Skoda Superb and Skoda Octavia are leaders in their respective markets, holding 26.4 and 39.2 percent shares.
Skoda India Sales and Service Network Expansion 2022
In 2022, Skoda India will increase its customer touchpoints by 28 percent from the current 175 to 225. The brand will be present in 145 cities in India by 2022, up from 117 last year. In addition, better service will be offered to the rural market through compact workshops to be set up in 60 cities across India. Service touchpoints will increase by 72 per cent from 93 to 160 in 2022, while sales outlets will increase by 20 per cent to 180.
