In a recent interview, the actor recalled how he thought making drugs would make him look cool, especially among women. Sanjay Dutt said in an interview with Ranveer Allahabadia that, “I was very shy, especially with women, so I started to make it look cool. You do it and you become a good man with women, you talk to them.

Sanjay Dutt further revealed how people used to call him ‘Charasi (addict)’ when he returned from the rehabilitation centre. The actor further said that this was the time when he started working to break away from his drug addict image.
Sanjay Dutt said that, for ten years of my life, I was in my room, or in the bathroom, and was not interested in shooting. But that’s life, and that’s how everything changed. When I came back (from rehab), people used to call me Charsi. And I thought, this is wrong. People walking on the road are saying this. Something has to be done. So I started working out. On the work front, Sanjay Dutt is enjoying the success of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ these days. The film, which released on April 14, also features rocking stars Yash, Raveena Tandon and Srinidhi Shetty.
