Bollywood’s queen, Kangana Ranaut, has always remained in the limelight for her outspoken nature and controversial statements. Currently, she is making headlines due to her upcoming film ‘Emergency’, scheduled for release on September 6, 2024. With her candid interviews addressing various issues, including nepotism in Bollywood, Kangana has voiced her experiences of being marginalized in the industry. In a recent interview, she praised Salman Khan, calling him a good person.
Salman Khan’s Film Offers to Kangana
Kangana Ranaut is known for her straightforward opinions on a variety of topics ranging from politics to the film industry. During the promotion of ‘Emergency’, she mentioned that Salman Khan had offered her roles in two of his blockbuster films: ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Sultan’.
Why She Rejected Salman Khan’s Offers
While promoting ‘Emergency’, which has faced calls for a ban prior to its release, Kangana revealed her conversations with Salman during her recent interaction with Siddharth Kannan. She recounted, “Salman offered me the role of Kareena Kapoor in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and I immediately questioned, ‘What kind of role is this?’ He then offered me Anushka Sharma’s role in ‘Sultan’, but I declined that as well.” Salman reportedly responded with, “What more can I offer you?”
The Connection Between Kangana and Salman
Kangana further elaborated on her relationship with Salman, stating, “He is a genuinely nice person and regularly reaches out to me. He is quite excited to watch my upcoming film ‘Emergency’. We have a mutual friend who urged him to see what I have created. After our discussion, Salman called to inform me that the film is well-made, and I jokingly remarked that his knowledge of the film being good was mere hearsay since he hadn’t watched it himself. That illustrates our bond.”
Kangana’s Aspirations in Film Direction
Earlier, during the trailer launch of ‘Emergency’, Kangana expressed her desire to produce and direct a film featuring all three Khans: Salman, Shah Rukh, and Aamir. She has also openly criticized roles offered to heroines in Khan’s films, stating they often consist of minimal screen time and limited dialogues, typically just two scenes and a song.
Rejection of Ranbir Kapoor’s Film Offer
In addition to turning down Salman Khan’s films, Kangana has also declined an offer from Ranbir Kapoor. She mentioned in another interview that he wanted her to be cast in ‘Sanju’, but she refused the offer. Kangana recalled, “Ranbir came to my house and personally requested, ‘Please take a role in Sanju.’”
What’s Next for Kangana?
On her work front, aside from ‘Emergency’, Kangana is generating buzz with her reality show ‘Lock Upp’. Following the success of its first season, reports suggest that the second season, ‘Lock Upp 2’, could soon make its debut, potentially airing in about a month and a half.
