Rice prices may increase rapidly in Bihar, UP and Jharkhand, know why

The monsoon for the year 2022 has been above normal, but the entire regions have not received uniform rainfall. Till September 30, the rainfall was good at 92.5 cm, which is 6 per cent more than the long period average (LPA) of 86.86 cm.

Due to less rainfall, 1.2 percent less paddy has been planted. This figure is as of 23 September. There has been a decline in sowing of paddy (5.5 percent), pulses (3.9 percent) and oilseeds (0.8 percent).

On the other hand, 12 states of the country have received above normal and average rainfall. On the other hand, normal rainfall has been recorded in 18 states. However, six states/UTs recorded deficient rainfall and this includes major kharif crop producing states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. However, the returning monsoon has brought good rains in September-October. There is also a possibility ahead due to which the Rabi crop is expected to be good.
