RCB vs GT IPL Match Result: Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis showed their strength, Bangalore beat Gujarat, kept their playoff hopes alive

Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Gujarat Titans (RCB vs GT) by eight wickets in the match of the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday on the basis of excellent innings of Virat Kohli (73) and captain Faf du Plessis (44). IPL-2022 Bangalore desperately needed a win in this match to stay in the (IPL 2022) playoffs. In such a situation, in this match, Kohli and Du Plessis have returned to their form and kept the team in the race. Batting first, Gujarat scored 168 runs for the loss of five wickets thanks to the smoky innings of captain Hardik Pandya (62 not out) and Rashid Khan (19 not out). Bangalore achieved this target in 18.3 overs by losing two wickets.

Chasing the target of 169 runs, Bangalore got off to a great start. While Virat Kohli appeared in his old colours, captain Faf du Plessis also took runs with his bat. Both of them gave a quick start to the team. In the fourth over itself, however, Rashid Khan dropped the catch of Virat Kohli. Kohli took full advantage of this.

Taking advantage of this, Kohli scored his second half-century of this season. Earlier, the half-century he had scored this season was also against Gujarat. During this, Kohli completed his 7000 runs for RCB in T20. Both of them put on 115 runs for the first wicket, which is the second century partnership for the first wicket for Bangalore this season. Rashid Khan broke this partnership. Rashid got Du Plessis caught by Pandya on the third ball of the 15th over. He could not complete the half-century. The captain scored 44 runs in 38 balls with the help of five fours.

Maxwell got along

Glenn Maxwell on the field after the departure of Du Plessis. Maxwell’s luck supported him on the very first ball. Rashid’s ball hit Maxwell’s leg stump but the bails did not fall and Maxwell survived. After this Maxwell showed his stormy style. He scored a total of 18 runs in the 16th over bowled by Pandya, hitting two sixes and a four.

Rashid hunted down Kohli

Kohli was becoming aggressive but Rashid Khan’s googly caught him. Matthew Wade stumped Kohli on the fourth ball of the 17th over. Kohli faced 54 balls in his innings and hit two sixes with eight fours.

Saha made a quick start

Earlier, winning the toss and opting to bat first, Gujarat Titans had a good start. Wriddhiman Saha rained fours and sixes as soon as he arrived. But due to the early dismissals of Shubman Gill (1) and Matthew Wade (16), this team was left behind and could only manage 38 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the powerplay. Gill was sent to Pavlin by Glenn Maxwell with a brilliant catch at slips while Wade was lbw. He also took a review but he could not survive. However, Wade was quite upset with the review’s decision.

Saha got Pandya’s support

Saha played some good shots. Captain Hardik Pandya supported him at the other end. But Saha (31) was unlucky and was run out. Faf du Plessis’s straight throw ended his mercury. From here, Pandya and David Miller batted vigorously and took the team beyond 100 in 14 overs. Hasaranga broke this partnership. In the 17th over, Miller (34) was caught off Hasranga’s ball. He shared a partnership of 61 runs in 47 balls with Pandya.

Gujarat lost its fourth wicket on a total score of 123 runs. After this, Rahul Teotia (2) also kept walking. He was dismissed as the fifth wicket of the team. In the 19th over, Rashid Khan hit a four off the balls of Siddharth Kaul and then took a single, after which Hardik hit a four and completed his half-century in 42 balls.
