Rakesh Maria Biopic: Rohit Shetty announces biopic on former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, says- I feel honored

As soon as Rohit Shetty made the announcement, his fans started wondering who the filmmaker would choose to play the decorated officer of Mumbai Police.
One of the most famous filmmakers of Bollywood, Rohit Shetty ,Rohit Shetty, Now one of the finest officers of Mumbai Police, Rakesh Maria, former Mumbai Police Commissioner (Rakesh Maria) a biopic on the life of (Biopic) has announced. The filmmaker announced this on his social media handle today and shared a picture with the former police commissioner. Holding a book printed on the officer, Rohit is seen smiling as he poses next to the brave Mumbai Police constable. Rohit has joined hands with Reliance Entertainment for this biopic. The biopic will be based on the experiences of his skilled career and will be directed by noted filmmaker Rohit Shetty himself.
Rohit Shetty to make a film on the life of former Mumbai Police Commissioner
Rohit took to social media to share a picture of himself and wrote, “From solving the 93 Mumbai blasts case, fearlessly facing the Mumbai underworld in the late 90s to interrogating the lone surviving terrorist, Ajmal Kasab. From doing and standing strong for his city during the 26/11 attacks…Rakesh Maria has been a name synonymous with courage and valor! Honored to bring the journey of this real life supercop on screen!!!@rohitshettyPicturez.”
Talking about the announcement, producer and director, Rohit Shetty said in a statement, “Rakesh Maria- the man who saw terror in front of him for 36 years!! His incredible journey spans from the 1993 blasts in Mumbai to the menace of the underworld. The 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks in 2008 are also included. Really honored to bring on screen the brave and fearless journey of this real life super cop!!”

Rakesh Maria also shared his thoughts on Rohit’s decision to make a film on his life as a police officer. He said, “It is exciting to relive Journey, especially when it is being directed by a brilliant director like Rohit Shetty. More than nostalgia, this is also a valuable opportunity to bring to the public the extraordinary work of Mumbai Police while facing tough challenges and working against all odds.â€
Talking about Rakesh Maria, he had passed the Civil Services examination from 1981 batch. He also solved the Bombay serial blasts case in 1993 as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic). Later, he served as Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) in Mumbai Police. Apart from this, he also solved the 2003 Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazar two blasts case and was also assigned the task of interrogating 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab.

His next film is ‘Circus’ which stars Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde and Jacqueline.
