In the matter of repaying the loans of banks, small businessmen seem to be more capable than big industrialists. In the total loan disbursed by the banks, if NPA is compared to the NPA of loans disbursed under the Mudra Yojana launched 7 years ago, then the whole picture becomes clear. According to the information received by the English newspaper Indian Express under RTI, after its launch in April 2015, a total loan of Rs 13.64 lakh crore has been disbursed till the end of June this year under Mudra Yojana. And in these 7 years, Rs 46,053 crore loan disbursed under Mudra Yojana has become NPA. That is, only 3.3 percent of the loan has become NPA.

On the other hand, if we look at the figure of NPA loan in the total loan disbursed by the banks, till March this year, about 6 per cent of the loan had sunk. And this does not even include the loan which the banks have written off from their books. Most of the money in this loan which has become NPA and has gone to the write-off account is the loan taken from banks by big industrialists.

To start a business under Mudra Yojana, 3 types of loans are given by the government. The first loan is up to 50 thousand rupees, which is called Shishu loan. The second loan is above 50 thousand to 5 lakh rupees, which is Kishore and the third loan above 5 lakh is up to 10 lakh rupees, which is called Tarun.

In these three categories, the government has given loans to more than 19 crore people in the last 7 years. And among them only about 83 lakh have been unable to repay the loan. That is, out of every 100 people who have taken loans, only 4 loans are stuck. Rest of the people have fully repaid the debt of the government. Or paying EMI regularly. Overall, it can be said that small businessmen are more capable than big industrialists in terms of repaying the loans of banks.
