Ponniyin Selvan 1: Aishwarya Rai-Vikram’s film leaves ‘The Kashmir Files’ behind, sets new record

The recently released Pan India film Ponniyin Selvan is making a splash at the box office. The film has done quite a good business in its second week as well.

The film has crossed the lifetime collection of the Hindi film The Kashmir Files. On Saturday, Ponniyin Selvan 1 made a huge jump of 60 percent, the total collection of the film on the 9th day in India was in the range of 14-15 crores. While talking about the gross world wide collection of this film, it is around 355 crores, which is more than the total collection of 340 crores of ‘The Kashmir Files’.

Based on the 1955 historical fiction novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy, Ponniyin Selvan-I is the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman (Jayam Ravi), a powerful king of the south, who later became the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. Jayam Ravi hopes that whenever the second part of this film is made, he will be given an even bigger role. Karthi was seen in the role of Vanthiyathevan, a brave and courageous warrior in the film. He said during an interview that “I am proud that I am a part of a very big film.”

Let us tell you, the film Ponniyin Selvan-1 produced in association with Alliraja Subaskaran’s banner Lyca Productions has been released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages.
