A statement issued by Academy Awards President David Rubin and CEO Don Hudson read that “The Board has decided that for a period of 10 years beginning April 8, 2022, Will Smith shall be allowed to participate in any Academy events. Will not be allowed to participate either in virtual or virtual mode. Academy governors invited board members, including board members Steven Spielberg and Whoopi Goldberg, on Friday morning to discuss action against Smith. However, Will Smith has already resigned from this group.
