Datsun brand discontinued in India
Apart from India, the company has discontinued the brand in Russia, Indonesia and South Africa. The company has informed that the production of redi-GO has been stopped at the Chennai plant, however, the sales of the model will continue till the stock remains.
Japan’s auto sector (Auto Sector giant Nissan (Nissan) launched its Datsun in India (Datsun) has announced the closure of the brand. The company is changing its strategy globally and the closure of the brand is part of this strategy. The company relaunched this brand worldwide 9 years ago. However, due to lack of purpose for the brand during this period, Nissan has decided to discontinue the brand. Apart from India, the company has discontinued the brand in Russia, Indonesia and South Africa. In fact, the sales figures of Datsun have been falling continuously for some time now, the sales of Datsun in India were better than the rest of the market but were away from the targets set at the time of launch. The company announced its new business strategy in the year 2020. In which the company decided to focus on its more successful segment.
Will continue to get redi-Go till stock lasts
Nissan India said in a statement that the production of the redi-GO has been stopped at the Chennai plant, although sales of the model will continue till the stock remains. The company made it clear that customer satisfaction is the top priority for them and even after the discontinuance of the brand, they will continue to get after sales service and parts through the dealership network spread across the country. The company has already stopped production of the small cars Go and Go Plus under the brand. The company also said that as part of its global transformation strategy, Nissan will increase its focus on select segments and models. In India, the company’s focus will be on the Nissan Magnite, which has received one lakh orders so far.
Company’s trust in Magnite
The company has full faith in Magnite in India, the SUV has received good response in the country and the company has also made it clear that it will increase its focus on this, according to the company’s strategy, it will now work only on those brands which are customer dealers. From now on the company will be beneficial for everyone. One lakh orders have been received for the SUV and at the end of last month itself, the company had prepared and handed over 50 thousand Magnites from the Chennai plant to the customers. The Magnite is the company’s first SUV that was launched after the global transformation strategy of 2020. This SUV made in India is currently being sent to 15 countries. In February 2022 itself, Magnite has got the international level NCAP 4 star safety rating. The Magnite has been Nissan’s most successful car till date in India. For this reason, the company now wants to focus its full attention on this SUV. Due to the price of the SUV, it is being liked a lot in the country.
