Tire maker Michelin is working on a puncture-proof tire system or airless tire for a next generation Chevrolet Bolt electric car. The company is planning to launch a product called Michelin Uptis commercially in the next three to five years. Michelin North America President Alexis Garcin confirmed the news in an interview with CNN.

For the record, Chevrolet refreshed the Bolt EV for 2021 with the introduction of its higher version, the Bolt EUV. The company may bring a new generation model in early 2025 but Chevrolet is yet to confirm the timeline.

Michelin has already used the Chevy Bolt for testing airless tires in 2019. But it is not the only car that comes with Michelin Uptis tyres. A Mini Cooper SE was also spotted in 2021 with Michelin airless tires and Uptis airless tires were first officially introduced in 2019.
