He said that 15 air connectivity projects worth about Rs 2,200 crore are also underway in the Northeast. However, the Finance Minister did not say by when these projects would be completed.

What did Sitharaman say on reduction in customs duty on fuel?

Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had dismissed the opposition’s allegations that the reduction in custom duty on vehicle fuel would affect the share of states in central taxes. Sitharaman said last week that petrol The reduction of Rs 8 in diesel and Rs 6 in diesel has been made in the road and infrastructure cess levied on these fuels, the collection of which is never shared with the states. He said that in such a situation this allegation of the opposition is not true. Sitharaman wrote on Twitter that she is sharing useful information about taxes to be levied on petrol and diesel, which will be beneficial for all. He said excise duty on petrol and diesel is a combination of Basic Excise Duty (BED), Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED), Road and Infrastructure Cess (RIC) and Agriculture and Infrastructure Development Tax (AIDC). Basic excise duty is shared with the states whereas SAED, RIC and AIDC are not shared.
