Mahindra Thar (Mahindra Thar) operates on great demand in the Indian market. Thar gets 4-star Global-NCAP (Global-NCAP) Ratings have made it even more attractive to many. Although the speed of the car at the time of the accident is not known, but it seems that Thar was being driven at high speed. It seems that the airbags of the car did not open.

This is the hardtop version of Thar. However, none of the Thar variants get a metal hardtop. The FRP roof is not enough to handle the weight of the car and this is the reason why the Thar gets a full roll cage. The roll cage carried the weight of the vehicle quite well and did not crumble. The Thar appears to have been badly damaged due to several rollovers during the accident.
Roll cages are very important in off-roading vehicles. The chances of the cars rolling over while tackling off-roading tracks are very high. This is the reason why professional off-roading drivers always use roll cage cars. This is the reason why rally cars have roll cages.
Without the roll cage, the roof would have been damaged and the passengers would have suffered a lot. At present all the four passengers are safe after the accident. Among them, only a minor cut has occurred in his hand.
Safest Made-in-India Off-Roading SUV
Under the “Safer Cars for India” initiative by Global NCAP, Mahindra Thar achieved a 4-star rating in crash tests. The Lifestyle SUV scored 12.52 out of 17 in Adult Occupant Protection and 41.11 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection. The Thar gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts for the child seats.
Mahindra Thar entered its next generation in 2020, which introduced major changes inside and out. During this time the SUV became better than ever, with advanced features like power windows, multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system, 18-inch alloy wheels and many more.
Mahindra Thar is now available with two different engine options, both with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine of the Thar produces 150 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque, while the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine produces 130 PS of maximum power and 300 Nm of peak torque.
