LPL: Announcement of third season of T20 league amid economic crisis in Sri Lanka, matches will start from this day, 5 teams will participate

Earlier, 2 seasons of this league have been played in the year 2020 and 2021 of the Lanka Premier League, Jaffna Kings has been the champion in both the seasons.

Sri Lanka has been battling an economic crisis for the past few months.  The country's foreign exchange reserves have fallen to record levels.  Meanwhile, the country's cricket board will organize its own T20 league, the Lanka Premier League.  This will be the third season of this league which started from the year 2020.  (LPL)

The Sri Lankan Board announced on Friday that the third season of the Lanka Premier League will start from July 31 and the final match will be played on August 21, 2022.  5 teams will participate in the tournament.  According to the information released, the initial matches of the league will be played in Colombo, while most of the matches after that will be played at the Hambantota Stadium.  (LPL)

  The Lanka Premier League has had two seasons so far.  Initially it was decided that the first season of the league would be held in 2018.  However, due to administrative negligence and then Corona, the first season of the tournament was held in 2020.  This season was won by Jaffna Kings.  After this, the Jaffna team also won the second consecutive season.  (LPL)
