The brutal murder case that occurred at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata on August 9 has sparked widespread outrage across the nation. The victim’s family insists that the heinous act could not have been executed by a single individual. Currently, the primary suspect, Sanjay Roy, has been apprehended and remains under continuous interrogation, alongside several other individuals who have come under the scrutiny of the CBI.
On August 20, the CBI summoned ASI Arup Dutta for questioning due to his close ties with Sanjay Roy. A video of him trying to evade media questions while rushing into the CBI office quickly went viral, further raising eyebrows about his involvement. A photograph has since surfaced, showing Arup Dutta alongside Sanjay Roy, indicating the depth of their association.

The CBI conducted an extensive eight-hour interrogation of ASI Arup Dutta, analyzing his statements and the nature of his relationship with Sanjay Roy. Investigators posed critical questions, including whether he permitted Sanjay Roy access to the hospital and when he first became aware of the crime. Furthermore, forensic teams have assessed the police barrack where Sanjay Roy allegedly rested after committing the crime.
