ISL: Ishan Pandita’s header gives Jamshedpur victory and first position in the table, East Bengal’s poor performance continues

Jamshedpur FC on the back of a brilliant goal from Ishan Pandita with the help of a header in the 88th minute (Jamshedpur FC) on Tuesday Indian Super League (ISL) SC in East Bengal (SC East Bengal) defeated 1-0. Jamshedpur’s team has come at number one in the points table after winning this match played at GSC Athletic Stadium in Bambolin. Jamshedpur has moved up from fourth to the top of the table with 19 points from 11 matches. They have won five matches and played four draws. At the same time, the Red and Gold Brigade of Coach Renedy Singh could not escape the defeat despite putting all their efforts.

East Bengal remains at the bottom of the 11-team points table after the fifth defeat. So far this team has been able to collect only six points after playing six draws from 11 matches. Jamshedpur’s Scottish forward Greg Stewart was awarded the Hero of the Match award for his role in the team’s victory. East Bengal got lucky in the 52nd minute when a header from Jamshedpur FC’s Jordan Murray hit the crossbar and the goal was not scored. After this Murray’s shot was stopped by goalkeeper Arindam.

Goalless first half was dull. During this Jamshedpur dominated but his forwards could not hit the target. However, he earned a seven corner kick. Therefore, the goal could not be scored from both the sides, as the East Bengal team played the defensive game for the entire time and their backline did their job well. Although the Red and Gold Brigade did try to counter attack but it failed to make an impact. Both the goalkeepers Pawan Kumar of Jamshedpur and Arindam Bhattacharya of East Bengal did not have to struggle much. In this way both the teams went to the half time break on the score of 0-0.
