ISL: FC Goa broke Kerala Blasters’ dream of victory, but could not end their winning drought, the match drew 2-2

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 league match played between Kerala Blasters FC and FC Goa at the Tilak Ground in Vasco da Gama on Sunday ended in a 2-2 draw. With this equalization, Kerala’s undefeated streak became eight matches. Serbian coach Ivan Vokomanovic’s Blasters have moved up from fifth to third in the table with 14 points from nine matches. Kerala has won three out of nine matches and played five draws. At the same time, Goa remained away from victory for the fourth consecutive match and has 9 points from two wins and three draws in nine matches. Coach Derrick Pereira’s team remains in ninth place.

The first half of the match was very exciting but in the second half both the teams were seen fighting. Therefore, neither Goa nor Kerala could capitalize on the opportunities given in the second half. No goal was scored after half time and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. All four goals of the match were scored in the first half. While Kerala Blasters had taken a 2-0 lead for 20 minutes with the opening attack, but even after falling behind, the Goa players kept control of the ball and did not let the half go out of their hands. So, Goa also scored two excellent goals and both the teams went for a break with a 2-2 draw.

First goal in the 10th minute

The first goal of the match was scored by Geekson Singh from a header in the 10th minute and Kerala Blasters got a 1-0 lead. The goal was scored at the first corner of the match, when Adrien Luna’s kick reached the first post defensive midfielder Geeksson and the ball went through his header and hit the post and went inside the goalpost. This goal reminded Gikson of the memorable header he had scored against Colombia four years ago in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
Second goal after 10 minutes

Adrian Luna’s goal in the 20th minute took Kerala 2-0 ahead. Uruguay’s attacking midfield scored a brilliant goal with an excellent right footer kick from about 35 yards. After taking a pass from Alvaro Vazquez, the ball on his shot went over goalkeeper Dheeraj Moirangthem and went inside the goalpost after hitting the post. In the 25th minute, Jorge Ortiz scored the first goal for Goa to reduce Kerala’s lead to 2-1. After taking a pass from Savior Gama from the left, the Spanish forward made a fine right footer shot and the ball went inside the goalpost touching the hand of Kerala goalie Prabhsukhan Gill from the right. His goal spoiled the fun of Birthday Boy Prabhsukhan because he is not going to get a clean sheet in this match.

Goa equalized in the 38th minute

Goa leveled 2-2 in the 38th minute with a brilliant goal from captain Edu Bedia. The Spanish attacking midfielder made a memorable left footer kick on the right flank to direct the ball inside the goalpost. Everyone kept watching this shot as the ball entered the goalpost while inswing.
