IPL Auction 2022: IPL 2022 While Ishan Kishan got silver on the first day of the auction, it rained money on Deepak Chahar. Apart from this, the luck of many other players also opened. On the first day of IPL 2022 auction, Ishan Kishan was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 15.25 crore and Deepak Chahar was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14 crore. After this much bid on Chahar, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has raised the question.
He tweeted, “Please can someone explain this: Chennai bought Chahar for Rs 14 cr and retained Dhoni for Rs 12 cr… while Mumbai bought Kishan for Rs 15.25 cr & Pollard for Rs 6 cr I retained.
Can someone please explain this:
CSK: Chahar gets Rs 14 cr, Dhoni retained for 12 cr.
MI: Kishan gets Rs 15.25 cr, Pollard retained for Rs 6 cr. @IPLAuctionLive

Why did CSK rain money on Chahar more than Dhoni?
In the year 2018, Chennai had bought the seam-bowling all-rounder for Rs 80 lakh. Nearly 18 times increment in four years has proved that a franchisee can go to great lengths for a specific goal. Actually, Chahar is known as a powerplay specialist. He has been a part of the CSK set-up. He swings the balls, which many Indian fast bowlers do not do in modern day cricket. He bats well in the lower order as well. For CSK, their bowling attack is based on a swing bowler. From that perspective, Chennai needed Chahar, whom the team management knows and trusts. That’s why the franchise considered it necessary to spend so much money on Chahar. Even if Chahar’s earnings are more than the captain.
Ishan becomes second most expensive Indian in IPL history
Mumbai Indians bought Ishan Kishan for Rs 15.25 crore. He became the second most expensive Indian player in the history of IPL after Yuvraj Singh. Ishaan’s base price was Rs 2 crore. Yuvraj, who was the hero of India’s victory in the 2011 World Cup, was bought by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for a record Rs 16 crores before the 2015 season. A year later, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for Rs 14 crore.
