The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will now be hosted in the UAE instead of Bangladesh, as announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) recently. The change was necessitated due to rising violence in Bangladesh. The tournament is scheduled to take place from October 3 to October 20, 2024, at two venues in the UAE: Dubai and Sharjah. Despite the shift in location, Bangladesh still holds the hosting rights for the tournament, and the ICC has rolled out the new schedule for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
ICC Unveils the New Schedule
The inaugural match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will feature Bangladesh taking on Scotland. A total of 10 teams will participate in this tournament, divided into two groups, with each team playing four group matches. In total, there will be 23 matches held throughout the tournament. The teams are split into Group A and Group B: Group A includes Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, while Group B comprises South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland. The semi-finals will take place on October 17 and 18, and the grand finale will be held in Dubai on October 20.
