Before the Commonwealth Games 2022, India has suffered a big setback. Asia’s most successful shotput player Tajinderpal Singh Toor (Tajinderpal Singh Toor) has decided to withdraw from these games. Toor is currently in the US to participate in the World Athletics Championships. However, he did not participate in this event on Saturday morning. Later the news came out that he had a groin injury, due to which he has now won the Commonwealth Games. (Commonwealth Games) have also decided to withdraw.

Toor pulls out of World Championship due to injury

No mark (NM) was written next to Toor’s name, he told PTI, “I had this (groin) injury four days after I reached Chula Vista (USA). I also threw some warm-up throws to see if the pain is still there. I was feeling pain while throwing, so I decided to pull out of the competition. If I had participated in the event, then my injury would have increased and it would have become a third grade injury and then I would have to stay away from the game for 7-8 months.

Toor could not achieve qualifying mark

Toor’s name was included in the Indian team selected for athletics. However, the AFI had said that the final decision regarding this would be taken after seeing Toor’s performance in the tournament to be held in Kazakhstan. However, he returned from Kazakhstan without participating in the tournament. He had to return to India to complete the visa related formalities to go to the World Championships.

Toor is troubled by continuous injury

Toor could not achieve the AFI’s set qualifying mark of 20.50m for the Commonwealth Games. Toor won the gold medal in the Inter-State Championships held in Chennai with a throw of 20.34m. At the same time, in the event held in Chula Vista on July 9, he threw a throw of 19.96 meters. Toor has not been able to give his 100 percent due to injury for a long time. He also played in the Tokyo Olympics last year with a wrist injury. He had to undergo wrist surgery. He underwent wrist surgery in September, after which he joined the national camp two months later.

Great start for India in World Athletics

Murali Sreeshankar became the first male long jumper to qualify for the finals of the World Athletics Championships while 3000m steeplechase athlete Avinash Sable advanced to the final as expected on the first day of competition here. Sreeshankar, who finished second in the list of best performers of the season, jumped a full eight meters to finish second and seventh overall in the Group B qualification round.
