The Indian cricket team is consistently performing well in the field and is winning. But off the field, the team is also constantly facing fitness problems. Many players of the team are constantly battling with injuries and one more name has been added to this list. Team’s young opener Rituraj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the ongoing T20 series against Sri Lanka due to injury. According to a report, Rituraj will not be able to play even in the matches to be held in Dharamsala on 26th and 27th. Mayank Agarwal has been added to the team as a backup in place of Rituraj.
Rituraj Gaikwad was scheduled to play in the first T20 match against Sri Lanka played in Lucknow, but just before the match he suffered an injury to his right wrist. Captain Rohit Sharma had given information about this. The Board of Control for Cricket in India had also issued an update saying that Rituraj was facing trouble in batting due to a wrist injury. The board had told that the medical team was examining him.
Now the new information in this matter is that this young batsman will have to sit out of the entire series. According to the report of Cricbuzz, senior opener Mayank Agarwal has been immediately sent to Dharamsala as a replacement for Rituraj. Mayank has been linked with Team India as a backup opener. Mayank Agarwal is currently in Chandigarh with Indian players preparing for the Test series. In such a situation, it was easy for the team management to transfer Mayank from one bio-bubble to another. Earlier, Mayank was also included as a backup for the ODI series against West Indies.
