Praveen Amre: In 1992, when the Indian team was on the first tour of South Africa, Amre made his debut in the very first Test played in Durban. Praveen Amre grabbed this opportunity with both hands and scored a century in the very first innings. The test ended in a draw and Amre was adjudged the player of the series.

Ajay Jadeja: The Test played in Durban on the 1992 tour, from which Praveen Amre debuted, Ajay Jadeja also made his debut from the same. However, Jadeja did not have a bang like Amre. And, he could score only 3 runs in the draw test.

Doda Ganesh: Coming from Karnataka, this bowler made his debut in the second Test of the series played on the 1997 tour of South Africa. In this match played in Cape Town, Doda Ganesh could take only 1 wicket by combining both the innings. India had to face defeat by 282 runs in this test.

Virender Sehwag: When India toured South Africa in 2001, it saw the debut of Virender Sehwag. Sehwag scored a century while making his debut in the first Test played in Bloemfontein. And, became the second Indian to do so in South Africa. Apart from scoring 105 runs in the first innings, Sehwag scored 31 runs in the second innings. South Africa won this test by 9 wickets.

Deep Dasgupta: The debut of this Indian wicket-keeper batsman also took place during the 2001 tour in the same Test played in Bloemfontein, with which Sehwag did. Deep Dasgupta scored 34 runs in the first innings and only 4 runs in the second innings.

Jaydev Unadkat: When India toured South Africa in 2010 under the command of MS Dhoni, Unadkat’s debut was seen in the first Test played in Centurion. This was also the last Test played by Unadkat for India. Unadkat did not get any success in this match. Whereas India lost the match by an innings and 25 runs.
