Also, Bumrah has no experience of captaining any team while Pujara has captained in first-class cricket. He has been a good captain.
What went against Pujara?
Now the question is, why did Team India not make Pujara the captain? Wasim Jaffer also answered this. According to Jaffer, Pujara’s place in the Test team is not confirmed and that is probably why he was not picked for the leadership. Jaffer said, ‘I think Pujara’s place not being confirmed could be the reason for this. He was dropped from the team, perhaps the same thing went against him. In South Africa too I had said that Ajinkya Rahane should have been given the captaincy in place of KL Rahul. Rahane won you the Test series in Australia.

Will Bumrah also surprise like Hardik Pandya?
Wasim Jaffer further said, ‘Bumrah was the vice-captain, so he was sure to become the captain, but considering the importance of this match, the series is at stake, then I would have chosen Pujara as the captain. Bumrah has not captained. Bumrah is intelligent, his game sense is amazing. Maybe Bumrah will surprise everyone like Hardik Pandya.
