Shocking Kidnapping Attempt in Goa

A troubling incident has surfaced from a police station in Goa, shedding light on a daring kidnapping attempt in the village of Korgao. The alarming event unfolded when two individuals forcibly entered a residence, attempting to abduct a minor. At the time of the incident, the house was occupied only by the grandfather and a one-and-a-half-year-old child, creating a tense and dangerous situation.

The Kidnapping Attempt

The intruders made their way into the house, attempting to wrestle the child from the grandfather’s arms. One of the suspects was on a motorcycle outside, while the other swiftly moved inside to take the child. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the grandfather and other family members started yelling for help, which eventually drew the attention of nearby residents.

Community Response

Thanks to the quick actions of the neighbors who gathered at the scene, they managed to rescue the abducted minor. They pursued the first suspect, successfully apprehending him on the spot, while the second assailant managed to flee on the motorcycle. The Pernem police arrived shortly thereafter, taking the detained suspect into custody.

Legal Actions Taken

The police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Pernem police station under several sections of the Goa Children’s Act, initiating a thorough investigation into the matter.

Arrests and Evidence Collection

During the investigative process, law enforcement identified both perpetrators as residents of Korgao, Pernem, Goa. Notably, one of the offenders, Nikesh Chari, is a police constable stationed at the IRBN camp in Ribandar. Following his identification, authorities have taken him into custody. Additionally, the motorcycle and car employed in the crime have been seized for further investigation.

Ongoing Investigation

Both suspects have reportedly admitted their involvement in the crime. The first suspect, Sanjay Baburo Narvekar, 47 years old, was previously employed as a lifeguard in Maharashtra. Authorities are currently interrogating both individuals to uncover the true motives behind their actions. As the investigation progresses, more charges may be added based on the findings.
