Former President Pranab Mukherjee, social activist Nanaji Deshmukh and legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika to be awarded Bharat Ratna very soon. Sources from Rashtrapati Bhawan says on 8th of August president Ram Nath Kovind will do the honourary.
Besides being the last President of India before Ram Nath Kovind, Pranab Mukherjee head several important posts in Indian politics and in the assembly including that of union finance minister. Pranab Mukherjee being a lifelong Congressman managed to strike a good rapport with PM Narendra Modi during his tenure. Along with Pranav Bhupen Hazarika and Nanaji Deshmukh were nominated in January.
While nominating for Bharat Ratna award 2019 PM Modi Twitted, “Pranab Da is an outstanding statesman of our times. He has served the nation selflessly and tirelessly for decades, leaving a strong imprint on the nation’s growth trajectory. His wisdom and intellect have few parallels. Delighted that he has been conferred the Bharat Ratna”.
After Pranab Mukherjee’s nomination for the award Congress president Rahul Gandhi said, “Congratulations to Pranab Da on being awarded the Bharat Ratna! The Congress Party takes great pride in the fact that the immense contribution to public service & nation-building of one of our own, has been recognized & honored”.
