Former Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley passes away at the age of 66 at AIIMS.

At the age of 66, Senior BJP leader and Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley passes away, after being admitted to AIIMS for a week with problems of breathing and restlessness.

On August 9, Arun Jaitley had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the All India Institute of Medical Science and was later declared haemodynamically stable. A hemodynamically stable patient has a stable heart pump and good blood circulation. It was strange that the authorities of AIIMS did not issued any updates on Jaitley’s health condition since Friday.

A lawyer by profession, Arun Jaitley had been an important part of Narendra Modi’s cabinet during the first tenure of BJP government. The Finance and Defence portfolios were under his surveillance and he often acted as the chief troubleshooter of the government. Since early April 2018 Jaitley stopped attending office, but was back in the finance ministry on August 23, 2018.

Because of his ill-health Jaitley didn’t contested during the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. He had undergone renal transplant on May 14 last year with Piyush Goyal filling in for him in the finance ministry at the time. Because of a long-standing diabetic condition he gained weight, which he corrected through Bariatric Surgery in September, 2014.

After the nation lost former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit and ex-foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, demise of Jaitley leaves the county remorse with tears and numb for the time being.
