Facebook, Twitter, Amazon and Pinterest have pulled out of the Consumer Electronics Show 2022 due to the COVID scare. Amazon, Facebook, Twitter have announced in separate statements that companies will not participate in CES 2022. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas in January. Companies have cited growing concerns over the new Omron variant for not participating in the electronics show.

“Out of the utmost care and concern for our employees, we will not attend CES due to concerns related to COVID-19,” Reuters was quoted as saying by Meta. While Twitter and Facebook are now looking for virtual events, Twitter had earlier planned to include some employees to participate in the panel.

A spokesperson for the firm told Reuters in an email that Amazon and its smart home unit Ring say they will not physically attend next month’s event due to threats to the Omicron variant. US wireless carrier conference sponsor T-Mobile announced that it would also not attend the event and that its chief executive would not deliver a keynote speech at the event.

For those who cannot access Las Vegas, The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) will create a digital program for the annual technical meeting. This will be an in-person program.

There will be over 1,000 companies in Las Vegas, including main brands and start-ups. CES 2022 will include new categories to showcase how the industry is developing, including space technology, food technology and NFTs.
