Indian Air Force (IAF) in their fleet Tata Nexon EV has been added to its fleet. After this step, electric vehicles are expected to get more boost in the Indian defense sector. Tata Nexon EV India’s best selling electric car. Air Chief Marshal VR Chowdhary flagged off 12 Tata Nexon EVs into the Air Force fleet from Air Force Headquarters Vayu Bhawan in New Delhi. The performance of Tata Nexon EV in the capital will be monitored before new electric vehicles are included in the defense sector.
The Indian Air Force is committed to the government’s initiative towards green mobility. Therefore, taking a step forward towards reducing carbon emissions, electric cars have been included in the fleet. The Air Force is planning to gradually increase the use of electric vehicles and reduce the number of petrol-diesel engine vehicles in its fleet in a phased manner.
Air force will also make charging station
The Airforce will not only include electric vehicles in its fleet, but will also set up charging infrastructure at different Airforce bases to promote EVs. Apart from electric cars, the Indian Air Force will also buy electric buses. According to reports, the Airforce will include electric vehicles in its fleet for selected units and formations.
Carbon emissions will come down
The inclusion of electric vehicles in the defense sector is in accordance with the government’s policy to reduce carbon emissions. According to auto website Autocar India, the Indian Army will convert 25 per cent light vehicles, 38 per cent buses and 48 per cent motorcycles to EVs in select units in a phased manner as per procurement.
Tata Nexon EV: Price
The Indian Airforce has joined hands with the Indian Army for the purchase of electric buses and electric cars. Talking about the Tata Nexon EV, the ex-showroom price of Nexon EV Prime ranges from Rs. 14.99 lakh to Rs. 17.50 lakh. This electric car comes in 6 variants and Jet and Dark editions are also available in it. This is a 5 seater electric car.
Tata Nexon EV: Range
A 30.2KWH battery pack has been used in the Tata Nexon EV. Talking about its range, this car can cover a distance of 312 kilometers once it is fully charged. Tata Motors has given automatic transmission option in it. This car is fully charged in 8.5 hours with a 3.3kW AC charger, while it will take only 1 hour to charge 0-80 percent with a 50kW DC charger.
