Deepak Raj Gupta became first India Born MLA in Australia Ministry

India born Deepak Raj Gupta has become MLA in Australia. Deepak Raj Gupta, the first Indian-Australian member of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) assembly, swore to the ministry with his hand on the Bhagavad Gita on Tuesday.

30-year-old Deepak came in Australia in 1989. Deepak’s brother Anil Raj said that Deepak had a lot of conflict in Australia. He has worked in restaurants after he started washing cars. During this time he studied alongside. Deepak first gets the job of a Public Relations Officer. He then got a government job from the Department of Defense Executive Officer.

Anil said that Deepak did not forget Indian culture despite being in Australia. He camps a lot to promote Indian culture. Various events were held in India to invite ministers so that people could know more about Indian culture. He also assisted in building temples and gurudwaras. After this, Deepak received the Award for Multi Culture Advocate and Excellence Community Service.

Deepak said that he had taken the decision to swear by Bhagwat Geeta before taking the oath. The Bible is sworn in by the House of Australia. As I expressed my desire, the officers of the assembly checked the rules and said that a member could take the oath on the scriptures of another religion.”I was granted permission after no interruptions. I took a copy of Bhagavad Gita with myself.” He later gifted Bhagavad Gita to the Assembly as a Seminar.
