Debuting at Cannes in 2002 alongside Shekhar Kapur for a special screening of their film ‘Devdas’, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the first Indian female actress to make it to the jury’s names in 2003. Over the years, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has remained an Indian who has been a regular part of the ‘Cannes Film Festival’.
Sharmila Tagore
This Bollywood actress was included in the jury members of the Cannes Film Festival in 2009. This actress, who has entertained the audience for many decades with her acting, got a chance to join the festival as a jury after a long time. Prior to this, Sharmila Tagore’s film ‘Devi’, directed by Satyajit Ray, was nominated for the feature film category in 1962.
Vidya balan
Vidya Balan, who carved a niche for herself in Bollywood by portraying actress-centric roles at a time when female actresses in the industry were only made puppets with heroes. Vidya served as a jury at the 66th Cannes Film Festival in 2013.
Shekhar Kapur
‘Mr. The director of ‘India’, best known for directing the English film Elizabeth, was invited to be the jury at the 2010 Cannes Festival. Back in 1994, his internationally acclaimed film ‘Bandit Queen’ was presented at the same festival.
Mira Nair
Filmmaker Mira Nair served as a jury at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. Later, at Cannes 1988, his film ‘Salaam Bombay’ also won the Audience Award. Most of his films are designed on an Indian story to attract an international audience.
