BSNL preparing to sell 10,000 telecom towers, know what is the whole matter?

Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav is saying that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited ie. BSNL Will start its 5G service in the month of October. That is, you will get the gift of 5G on Diwali. But on the other hand the news is coming that BSNL is going to sell its 10,000 mobile towers. In such a situation, it is not digested how BSNL will give better service by selling its mobile towers and will compete with other companies. Under the National Monetization Pipeline, the central government has set a target of raising Rs 4,000 crore to BSNL by 2025 by selling a total of 13,567 mobile towers. To meet this target, BSNL plans to sell 10,000 towers in the first phase. For this, KPMG has been appointed as Financial Advisor.

BSNL will sell only those towers which are under co-location arrangement with third party telecom service providers like Reliance Jio and Airtel. BSNL, which provides mobile service in every corner of the country except Delhi and Mumbai, has a total of 68,000 telecom towers. 70 per cent of these towers are connected by fiber cables and are ready to start 4G and 5G services. BSNL is the only telecom company in the country to have such a huge tower network. Under the National Monetization Pipeline, 13,567 towers are to be sold to BSNL and 1350 towers to MTNL in a phased manner by 2025. Together, the two government companies have to sell 14,917 telecom towers.

The government wants to promote telephony services for BSNL to get out of losses…..for this it has planned to merge Bharat Broadband network with BSNL…. Together these two companies will bring telephone service to rural areas of the country and will expand internet services.
