Export doubled in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu is one of the leading states in the country in terms of production of eggs. There are about 1,100 poultry farms in the state and out of this, about 700 are around a single district. The name of this district is ‘Namakkal’.

According to a report in HT, Tamil Nadu Poultry Farmers Association President K.K. Singrai says that usually one crore eggs are exported from Tamil Nadu to Qatar every month. For the last two months, this demand has increased to 2 to 2.5 crore eggs per month. The direct reason for this is the FIFA World Cup being held in Qatar.

60 million eggs are produced every day

By the way, let us tell you that 60 million eggs are produced every day in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. From here eggs are supplied to Kerala, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. Namakkal has no match in the supply of eggs in the country.

Turkey increased prices, Tamil Nadu’s work done

While the demand for eggs has increased in Qatar due to the FIFA World Cup, the Russia-Ukraine war has increased the prices of eggs in western countries. Poultry farms of India and Tamil Nadu have also benefited from this. Singraj says that eggs are mainly supplied to Qatar from Turkey. But now a carton of eggs (box of 360 eggs) from Turkey is coming for $35, whereas the box of eggs sent from Namakkal is just $29.

By the way, the export of eggs has not increased only to Qatar. Rather, the demand for eggs has increased in other countries as well. According to Singaraj, there is a possibility of exporting 8 to 10 crore eggs from Tamil Nadu in the month of November alone.
