Aamir Khan last graced the silver screen with ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ two years ago. Despite high expectations, the film did not resonate well with audiences, leading to a disappointing box office performance. Following this setback, Khan decided to take a break from acting. During this hiatus, he hasn’t been entirely out of the film industry; instead, he has focused more on producing films than acting. Recently, news of Aamir Khan’s comeback with the film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ brought a wave of excitement among his fans. Initially slated for a Christmas release, it appears that audiences may have to wait a bit longer for this much-anticipated return.
Potential Delay for ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’
The filmmakers had chosen the Christmas week for Aamir’s return. However, according to a report from Peepingmoon, there are indications that the release of ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ might be postponed. If this happens, three major films are set to compete against each other during the holiday season. On one side, there’s the Hollywood film ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’, and on the other, we have Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer’, along with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Welcome to the Jungle’. ‘Game Changer’ is anticipated to be a massive hit, but it is now entering a competitive arena against Shahrukh Khan and Mahesh Babu.
Why Is the Film Delayed?
Reports suggest that director R.S. Prasanna has been unable to finalize the film on time, leading to a potential postponement. As of now, the makers have not officially confirmed the delay. Aamir Khan, on his part, is reportedly pleased with the film’s progress and is eager to present it to the audience. However, he also believes that the project still requires additional time for a polished finish. Speculation suggests that the release could be delayed by at least three months.
Upcoming Competition
Amidst the discussion of ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’s delay, co-producer Jio Studios is planning to release another film on the same date. Varun Dhawan’s ‘Bhediya Jaan’ is now slated for a December 25, 2024 release, although there has been no official confirmation from the makers yet. There were also recent reports indicating that the production work for ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ has not been completed, adding to the uncertainty of future releases.
Clash of Titans: Ram Charan, Shahrukh Khan, and Mahesh Babu
As it stands, the stage is set for a fierce showdown between Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer’ and Shahrukh Khan and Mahesh Babu’s ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’. Ram Charan will be joined by Kiara Advani, while Shahrukh Khan lends his voice to the Hindi version of ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’. Additionally, Aryan and Abram Khan will also feature in voice roles. In the Telugu version, Mahesh Babu voices the same character that Shahrukh has dubbed in Hindi. This unique crossover places Ram Charan in direct competition with the fan bases of two of the biggest stars in Indian cinema.
