The Modi government is making every possible effort to accelerate India’s development journey. The central government has been working swiftly to achieve this goal. In the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted a strong focus on the infrastructure sector, announcing plans for several new highways and expressways. Government’s Ambitious Plan
The Union Cabinet is expected to approve the establishment of 12 new industrial cities across different states, modeled after Greater Noida and Dholera, to promote domestic manufacturing. According to officials, out of the proposed 12 industrial cities, two will be located in Andhra Pradesh and one in Bihar.
Strategic Development Focus
In the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, a significant announcement was made to boost manufacturing through partnerships with states and the private sector to develop ‘plug and play’ industrial parks in or around 100 cities. Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), mentioned that eight cities are already in various stages of implementation.

Initial work has already commenced in four cities—Dholera (Gujarat), Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Vikram Udyogpuri (Madhya Pradesh), and Krishnapatnam (Andhra Pradesh)—with land allocation for industries currently underway. In similar lines, the government is focusing on improving basic infrastructure such as road connectivity, water supply, and electricity in the remaining cities.
